Ahmedabad: Gujarat Council of Science City, functioning under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, will celebrate World Ozone Day 2026 on 16 September 2026 at the Children Activity Centre, Gujarat Science City.Based on the theme “Global Action for Cooler Planet,” the programme aims to raise awareness about ozone-layer protection, climate responsibility and the importance of collective environmental action.
Around 1,000 students from different schools and colleges are expected to participate in the programme. The day-long celebration will begin at 11:00 AM with participant registration, followed by a welcome and introductory session.
A popular science lecture titled “Action for Ozone Protection & Cooler Planet” will help students understand the importance of the ozone layer, the challenges affecting it and the actions required to protect the planet.
The programme will also feature a special film screening on ozone protection and an interactive “Explore Ozone” puzzle game carrying the message “Save Ozone: Save Life.”As part of the programme, participating students will visit various scientific thematic galleries at Gujarat Science City.
The visit will provide them with an engaging and experiential understanding of different scientific concepts and technological developments.Through popular science lectures, films, interactive games and gallery visits, the initiative seeks to make environmental science interesting and accessible while encouraging students to adopt environmentally responsible practices.
